Behaviour Analysis is the scientific study of behaviour. It attempts to describe, understand, predict and change behaviour.

Applied in the natural environment, using individually designed interventions, it may help reduce a child’s challenging behaviour while supporting the development of appropriate, alternative behaviour.

We follow the principle of ABC (Antecedent Behaviour Consequence). This indicates what happens before, during and immediately after behaviour. The principles of behaviour analysis are applied to the needs of an individual to promote behaviour change and improve quality of life.

The Behaviour Analyst Certification Board® (BACB®) is a nonprofit organization established to protect consumers of Behaviour Analysis services.  By promoting standards for the professional conduct of Behaviour Analysts, the BACB strives to ensure clients receive effective and ethical Behaviour Analytic treatment.

The Board provides credentials at different levels. Each level must hold the appropriate degree, have obtained the necessary hours of experience, and must pass the Board examination.

  • Registered Behaviour Technician™ (RBT) – A paraprofessional holding a high school degree that practices under the close, ongoing supervision of a BCBA or BCaBA.
  • Board Certified Assistant Behaviour Analyst® (BCaBA) – An undergraduate holding a Bachelor’s degree. BCaBA’s must be supervised by someone certified at the BCBA/BCBA-D level.
  • Board Certified Behaviour Analyst® (BCBA/BCBA-D) – A graduate-level or doctoral-level certification in behaviour analysis. Professionals who are certified at the BCBA level are independent practitioners who provide behaviour-analytic services and can supervise the work of BCaBA’s,  RBT’s and others who implement behaviour-analytic interventions.
